"We can't restore a community if we haven't taken the time to build community; we can't skip ahead to the end of the process and expect our students to understand the impact of their actions, take responsibility, and work to repair the harm that was done. We must build those skills over time just as we build math and reading skills."
Having good relationships with others is essential part to everyday life. When we create a space that is respectful and reflective, people can find their way through anger, pain, and fear to find common ground and take care of one another.
"When we rely on rules rather than relationships when harms' been done, we all lose." #RestorativeDiscipline
Thank you so much Ogden staff for allowing me to present my plan and thought's for the school year. I look forward to our new journey with restorative practices at Ogden. #RJMATTERS #OURKIDSMATTER #WEALLMATTER "The relationships that develop between adults and children mirror the relationships that adults have with one another."
Schools are a reflection of our values as a society: the schools we create mirror the society we create for ourselves.
